About a month ago I got a request to create a banner. They needed a quick turnaround on the banner because the hockey tournament was the upcoming weekend. They wanted something basic just to get the name out there (text, and logos) on a White background.

I have been doing this long enough now to know that a basic vinyl banner with text and a couple of logos on a White background... does not look good. There is a purpose for it- The classic "WE ARE OPEN" signs you see  are great for attracting the attention of people driving by your business.... However, for an event like this, you want the banner to stand out in a good way, not a negative, " ewww, look at this hideous design" sort of way.

I told them I can create something in a half hour that would blow them away.... and if they didn't like it,  I could easily create a basic text on White background banner for them in a matter of minutes.

Here is banner that I created for them and they loved it!

The banner was such a big hit that one of the parents ended up purchasing a banner for his son to hang in his room.

If you need a custom design- feel free to reach out to me here.

Cheers!

Whew- 2014 is already here! Where did 2013 go?? It's been a great year and a busy one at that! I hope your 2013 was as fun filled as mine.

I know I haven't been posting much and I wanted to apologize for that. Life has been extremely busy  and I have been hard pressed to find the time. To be honest, I haven't really even had time to create much new art either. But the ideas…. let me tell you, the ideas are still coming in from all corners of my mind. That's why I just purchased an idea book or my little book of ideas if you will.

Previous to this purchase I have been writing down my ideas in sketchbooks (when I was sketching) or on tiny pieces of paper - I will show you all the idea notes I have- the purchase of this book allows me to have all my ideas in one place. This is huge for me  because I have hundreds of these notes all over the place and this book is harder to misplace.

I have however, found some time to and from work to take some photos. We have been fortunate to get some lovely snow in time for Christmas and holidays which always makes it look amazing! More photos can be viewed here.

Again, Happy New Year and I hope everyone's 2014 is a fun and prosperous one! Be safe and stay healthy.
Cheers!

The Flower of Life Photo via wikipedia
Have you heard of the flower of life or perhaps the fruit of life? If you haven't, read up on it here. I created a different version of the fruit of life graphic which is the above graphic you see on my home page.

What's the deal with that? "What's the deal.. "Seinfeld" anyone?

Well, it's complicated so, I'm not going to even begin to try and explain it to you. There is a youtube series of videos called Spirt Science. These videos are great and have really cool animated graphics that go along with the info.

Over the past 2 years I have been diligently working on an idea I've had for a  children's book. My story has come a long way from when I started and I have really enjoyed the entire process. As an artist, I am always looking for new ways to express my self and be creative.

Right now I am in  the process of having my book read by some friends and family prior to publishing and it's going great so far. I am receiving tons of great feedback and can't wait to move forward to publishing! This is my first book and it's been a great experience so far. Once I am finished editing the story, I am going to self-publish my book through Amazon.com and possibly print a few through Lulu.com depending on the cost breakdown. I am also working on more concepts for a few children's books in the future. Between that and getting ready for my wedding, I have a full plate!

In other news- Go Red Sox!

Have any questions, Feel free to send me a message.
Cheers!

I haven't been posting a lot lately and to be honest I haven't been creating a lot of art either. We have been in the middle of Autumn -one of my favorite seasons- and it's been difficult to sit still long enough to create anything; plus the weather has been amazing! That said, I have been busy taking photos as I truly enjoy viewing nature's art and because we only have a short window of time, I have been focusing on that. I have also been focusing on my wedding that is coming up soon!

Once the wedding is over, I will be in a better place to create some new drawings and paintings. But for now, I am happy taking photos and living in the moment. It's good to do what you need to do and not live life by schedule. Don't get me wrong, it's good to have a plan, but I like the freedom to break from it and have some fun, don't you?

To view more of the photos I've been taking lately go here.

PictureDuncan 2- SOLD
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about going to Art in the Park in Keene, NH. My mother and I split a booth and have been doing this for about five years now. Every time there is an out door event, weather is always a concern. This year we actually ran into the worst weather we've had in years!

"Art and artists are driven by passion and the emotional ride can veer off to anger and/or depression. We should not forget to enjoy the experience of daily creativity, whatever that may entail." -(Diane Carter)

How do you like this quote above? I like it a lot and if I ever forget to blog or I am too busy creating more work, I will just repost this quote and say, "I am sorry I haven't posted in a while, I was busy creating"! :)

Anyway, we woke up around 4AM to get ready and load up the cars... the rain and humidity was in full force. We were driving by 5AM and the rain subsided, for a bit. Along our drive, we spotted a Great Blue Heron hanging out by this small pond and we both wanted to stop, however, we wanted to allow ourselves enough time to set up our booth.

As we rolled into Keene the skies were unleashing all the rain in the world or so it seemed. It was torrential down pour and a near wash out! The hard core artist were still setting up their tents and art. We on the other hand, decided to "take a break" and went straight to Elm City Bagels for some breakfast and coffee*. * Note: I don't drink coffee, but I do love coffee in porter and stout beers. After about an hour, the rain let up and we decided to set out booth up and prepare for the weekend!

Do to the weather there wasn't too many visitors so the weekend sales weren't too great. I did sell a few prints and I also sold the painting above "Duncan 2". We did get to see a ton of great art and make a few more connections.

All in all the weekend wasn't a complete wash and it's always good to see my moms! We haven't decided if we are going to participate next year, but we all Winter to think about it.

In other news:
I am working on a kids book and I am looking for more readers prior to selling my book on Amazon.com.

If you haven't seen this drawing it's a must! It's one of my favorite drawings because I am working with a subject that I love, ultimate frisbee!

I just sold a greeting card of my watercolor drawing called "Ultimate Froggie"

You can see it here.

If you are looking to get a new frisbee or want to purchase a frisbee for a friend, son, daughter or someone else, I highly recommend the Wham- O brand.

These frisbees were built to last and I haven't had a problem with mine at all.  This frisbee is a 175g (weight) and if you are in a particularly windy area, you may want to get a 200g frisbee.

Don't forget to Like me on Facebook.

PictureA screen capture of my old site.
I have been planning on creating a new site for a while now. A site that was easier to maintain and navigate through. I feel have accomplished both goals with my new site.

You will also see that this site has my blog on the front page where I will be able to communicate with you on a regular basis.  Please feel free to let me know what you think of my new site in the comment section.

You will also see that I have added a Store page where you will be able to purchase prints and t-shirts much easier.  I am still working on the site and I plan to add a shopping cart for purchasing original art as well.

However, I wanted to get my site up an running as fast as I could, so If you would like to purchase an original painting or drawing, email me here.

Don't forget to add me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter.

Cheers!
