Eco Art

Eco Art? Environmentally minded? What is all the hubbub?

Eco art is all about an artist trying to make a difference in the world and how we as people think about the world and how we are using materials and minimizing waste. If we can recycle materials and still be able to create art why not do it? It seems like a no brainer right?

I am an oil painter by habit. As I went to college I actually hated painting. I COULDN'T do it! I liked to draw with pencil and pen and that was it. I didn't want to do anything else. In my Sophomore year, I took Painting I and it turned out I could do it. Throughout the year I grew stronger and stronger as a painter. I eventually found myself in Painting II and I was in love with oil paints.

As you can imagine they are not too earth friendly and as an environmentally minded person, I am trying to make the switch over to a more environmentally friendly medium. Lately, I have been creating more Pen/ ink drawings on recycled paper and oil pastels on cardboard. I have also been using and mixing some acrylic paints with the oil paints when I can. Eventually, I am hoping to make a complete switch over to be a "Green" artist.
