Oil Painting

I setup to paint, go to my studio and thoughts start to explode in mind like an intergalactic war. Images I have yet to see before, ideas I never thought I would conceive before are now here and they will get away unless I get them down on paper or canvas. I have these ideas constantly throughout my day and some are very lucid thoughts that stick with me and others are just there. I pick and choose what I want to proceed with and the others are disposed of.

It may not always be about painting or drawing. Sometimes it's words, how I am feeling, how I am coping with the world around me. It’s reflection on what going on in the world, in my life and the people around me. I get ideas that I will probably never use and I wish I could sell them off for someone else to use so that they don’t go to waste. I have ideas for movies, stories, inventions and how to make this place a little bit better. However, I choose to use the ones I feel are better suited for me.

I am a dreamer and a firm believer that if you want something bad enough you will one day (with lots of work) achieve your dreams. This is a struggle for some people and easier for some, but I feel that if there isn’t any struggle the end result won’t be as satisfying to someone who has had everything handed to them.

When all is said and done painting and creating art is what I love to do. I am an artist at heart and there is something that passes through me, something amazing happens: when I pick up a brush my paints are off to the side and there is this big empty canvas in front of me kicking and screaming “make me look great”! Give me a name and make me look too good to be on the floor; Give me a home, make someone want to put me into a gallery.

When I go into a painting most of the time I have a general idea of what I want to achieve from piece to piece. A revolving theme throughout my art is based upon music and I do steer away from that now and again trying different subject matter. Once I know what I want to create and what I want to achieve with a piece I do everything I can to get my idea across.

From there I let my impulsiveness and natural instinct as an artist in some way merge my minds’ sub-consciousness and allow myself to have what could be described as an outer body experience take over as I am guided around my canvas.
